The announcement Saturday caps Allmendingers comeback from a positive drug test in July 2012 that led to his suspension and caused him to lose his job with Roger Penskes Sprint Cup team. But Allmendinger went through a NASCAR-mandated treatment program and managed to land a handful of Cup rides, in addition to getting a chance from Penske to drive in IndyCar.
